Jefferson’s Ferry Names Three to its Board of Trustees

Jefferson’s Ferry, a not-for-profit Life Plan Retirement Community, has elected three new members to its Board of Trustees. Kenneth Roberts, Lawrence Eric Davidow, and Wendy D. Darwell now sit on the ten member board.  Additionally, Gloria B. Snyder, an eight year veteran of the board, was elected to succeed departing board Chair Vivian Viloria-Fisher. Jefferson’s Ferry President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Caulfield made the announcements.

“The Jefferson’s Ferry community has long been fortunate to have a committed and talented board, and with these changes that tradition remains intact with a strong mix of experienced board members and the fresh perspective of our new trustees,” said Caulfield.  “Overall we have outstanding experience across operations, public officials, accountants, and financial advisors.”

“Gloria has long played an important role on the board,” continued Caulfield.  “In addition to her financial acumen, her deep understanding of the challenges we face, from regulatory issues to the decisions that enable us to provide the highest quality of life to our residents, makes her a valuable member of our board and our community.”

Trustee Kenneth Roberts recently retired as President of Mather Hospital.  Under his 36 years of his leadership, the hospital grew into one of the most respected and highly ranked hospitals on Long Island, earning designation as a Magnet hospital for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice.  Healthgrades named Mather Hospital as one of the 250 top hospitals nationwide in its 2018 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. Mather was one of only three Long Island hospitals and six in New York State to achieve the distinction. Mather delivered better clinical outcomes than 95% of hospitals in the nation, based on an objective evaluation of risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications.

In addition to his position on the Jefferson’s Ferry Board of Trustees, Mr. Roberts serves on the Board of Directors of the JTM Foundation and Sights on Health, Inc. where he also serves as Secretary of the Board. He lives in Setauket.

Lawrence Eric Davidow, the Senior and Managing Partner of Davidow, Davidow, Siegel & Stern concentrates his practice in Elder Law, Estate Planning and Special Needs.  He is a Past President and Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) a designation which is awarded through the National Elder Law Foundation. Davidow recently published, “Listen to Lawrence if You’re Planning to Keep It,” an explanation of Elder Law in New York.  He resides in Mt. Sinai.

Wendy Darwell serves as the President and CEO of the Suburban Hospital Alliance of NYS, which represents the interests of public and not-for-profit hospitals in the Hudson Valley and on Long Island.  In this role, she provides policy expertise on a broad range of healthcare issues and oversees membership and education services for hospital staff. prominent.  Darwell is a resident of Miller Place.
