Message from President and CEO, Bob Caulfield
When faced with adversity, it is amazing how people rise to the challenge. Now several weeks into the world changing COVID-19 pandemic our residents, staff, friends and families have united in an extraordinary effort to support one another as we face this unprecedented challenge. We are exceedingly grateful to all of you; not only for your cooperation, but for your compassion, advocacy and understanding of the difficult choices we’ve had to make on behalf of safety of our community.
At Jefferson’s Ferry, where sociability, independence and vitality are a hallmark, we’ve all had to accept significant limitations on social activities and movement within and outside the community to help lessen the chance of COVID-19 transmission. Despite these restrictions, we have heard many wonderful and inspiring stories of residents who’ve found new ways to connect with their fellow residents, friends and family through virtual conversations and activities, ensuring that no one is left out.
The outpouring of support and acts of kindness extended to those of us who work at Jefferson’s Ferry have made each day brighter for us as we go about our important work. We are thankful to our tireless staff for their vigilance and fortitude as they work to assure the safety and well-being of our residents and each other. Their commitment to their jobs is as unfaltering as it is selfless.
We don’t know what lies ahead, but our commitment to established protocols and directives from our local, state, and federal agencies to promote employee and resident safety and reduce the chance of exposure or transmission remains our top priority.
Our varied and talented senior management team, advisors and business partners are all working around-the-clock to help manage our response to this unprecedented challenge and guide us on this journey.
Each day brings new challenges, and by focusing on the tasks at hand, we have been able to stay strong and surmount these challenges. We’ve demonstrated that we’re willing to make the necessary sacrifices and adapt to the new rules of limiting our social interactions, scrupulous hand-hygiene, and self-monitoring our health.
My heart and my thoughts are with all of you as we face this as a community. Please rest assured that along with our Board of Trustees and leadership team, I am committed to focusing all the resources and talent needed to manage through this challenge, for as long as necessary.
The battle we wage today will come to an end, and I’m confident that this experience will have strengthened us as a Community.
