South Setauket, N.Y. – Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan Community is pleased to announce that Susan Loucks has joined the organization as Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Relations. As head of the Jefferson’s Ferry Foundation, she will provide leadership on the Foundation’s planned giving programs, the annual fundraising gala and community outreach initiatives in collaboration with area nonprofits and other stakeholders.
From 2016-2022, she held several roles on the development team at St. Joseph’s University, most recently serving as manager of planned giving. She was responsible for all aspects of the university’s planned giving efforts, including marketing, stewardship and portfolio management. During her time at St. Joseph’s, she created a stewardship plan for the Aquinas Society, coordinated successful planned giving events and kicked off the university’s fiscal year in July 2022 by documenting a $1.5 million-dollar planned estate gift.
Earlier in her career, she was an associate attorney at a real estate and estate planning law firm in Carle Place, N.Y., and she also taught Media Studies at Sacred Heart Academy in Hampstead, N.Y. She holds a law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University.
“Susan brings a unique depth of experience in law and planned giving to help forge strong connections with our residents and their families as well as with potential donors in the wider community,” said Bob Caulfield, President and CEO of Jefferson’s Ferry. “She will engage with people who want to support our mission and our Foundation through their philanthropy.”
Caulfield noted that, for 21 years, Jefferson’s Ferry has provided high quality services to seniors so they can live longer and maintain their independence in a nurturing lifestyle setting that can accommodate their needs as they age. “The Foundation is essential to our continued success and it is destined to thrive under Susan’s inspired guidance,” he concluded.
